no shame in my lame

i am THAT girl.

i shamelessly swoon over "Love Actually" (seen it seven or eight times) when people cooler than me pooh-pooh it and NOW i'm finally watching "Shallow Hal" and i like it. it's on TV and I'm verklempt because "Hal" just saw little "Cadence" as she is for the first time.  i don't think that ref will ruin the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it. :)  the only thing i DON'T like is jason alexander's wig.  well, i don't like jason alexander, so that's not shocking...

SH is very cute.  i'm exhausted after a very draining, challenging day at work and i reeeeally want to take a nap, but i can't tear myself away from this improbably good little film.  i'm a music snob, and i think anyone who hasn't seen the Apu trilogy is underprivileged, but i don't mind my fluffy movies 't all, spank you much.

i just watched it too! i have seen it before but i think its cute too:)

what? you can't possibly be. I am THAT girl, not you. I am one of those girls. they are probably the same thing. And as female competition invariably goes, There Can Only Be One. And I was it first. so HA.

;)

See "Happy Endings" if you haven't. It is as long as a hindi movie but without songs or intermission, but it is worth the watch. Kind of like "Playing By Heart," it follows random people's stories until they all tie up nicely in the end. It's cheesy AND smart at the same time.

Thank you for mentioning the Apu trilogy. It made my day.

I can't make fun of your movie tastes, as I own the "Degrassi Jr. High" and "Degrassi High School" boxed set. But I'll defend it to the bitter end!

Forget Oprah and Dr. Phil. It's confessions like the one above that melt my heart. :)

love, love actually, the soundtrack is fun and come on..the airport scenes are awesome... doesn't it encompass the airport emotions brilliantly?

good luck with new job! happy new year anna :)

I lowe SH - it's filled with surprising insight even if it is only a frat-pack film.

Speaking of Ray, have you seen anything by Adoor Gopalakirshnan?

Hope that the new job is going well.

I LOWE LOWE LOWE love actually as well... now i have to go rent it again :)

see something else we have in common... other than monkeys =)

hey anna, i LOVE LOVE ACTUALLY TOO. i think it's my 'i'm depressed, i wanna feel good' movie...

Ahh, someone else likes Shallow Hall, too. I thought I was the only one....

Enh - I liked *most* of "Love Actually" - the story line with the delicious Mr. Firth and the Portugese woman just annoyed me. You can't speak to each other, yet you're in love? And you're going to marry? It's a bit much for me. I would have loved to have seen more on the Emma Thompson/Alan Rickman storyline - that fascinated me.

As a Bengali, I am forced to love the Apu trilogy but those are good. One of favorite Hindi movies is "Hero," and you can't get anymore masala than that! Also, I loved Starsky and Hutch lol.
