» Malayalee parents name their kids the darndest things from MadMan's LinksMatic
Malayalee parents name their kids the darndest things: 'fraid so. I have some of those in my own family (we have a "Jineesh" and a "Jisha") Must be a side-effect of too much literacy. ;)... [Read More]

» Jindal: Congressman, Finger-Inker...and Obstetrician? from Sepia Mutiny
Putting aside his politics for a moment, I think most of us are capable of agreeing that Congressman Bobby Jindal has accomplished several things which would make any brown parent gloat; a quondam Rhodes Scholar, he was appointed Secretary of Louisian... [Read More]

i think you made up timble, sissy and sheeta. what do i win if i'm right?

LoL...like I always say...the only people
more "creative" with names are carambans. =)

poor shanekwa...you're 0 for 3. ;)

you left out "Juicy" as in Juicy Joseph" and Jiju and Jiku and Titu and Goofus - yes, Goofus and my favorite - a bunch of siblings called Godly, Glory and Gladys (the first two are male).

Annsy has to either be a typo (;)) or the one that doesn't belong...

i'm gonna have to go with "timble" and "michelin"... after surfing friendster i've decided that malayalee parents should somehow be publicly reprimanded for forcing their innocent kids to go through life with names like chachu and sissy. while u missed a number of the -iju names, i'm eternally grateful for your omission of biju. =)
btw- i've heard that "rexi" has a brother named "rex". oh yeah.

Damn, I do know so many of those names... you should start a consulting service for would-be parents in good ol' Kerala!

i happen to like the name jency.. since it's my name :)

Have you ever noticed how indian parents name all their kids with the same letter? Like if the firstborn is Suja, then all kids after start with the letter S.

i've got a guy couisin named cherry
(or is it cherri?)...how about mallu couples who combine their names to make their kids' names (eg Mini and Renji= Minji)?

Which brings us to the name for Theresamma and Shijin's kid: Shit :) (joke courtesy of an aunt)

Dear Anna,
Seriously you dont know the travails of the single south Indian males due to these names.Read this post

http://sidin.blogspot.com/2004/05/travails-of-single-south-indian-men-of.html

well, on friendster, a ton of people use their indian names rather than their "fake" names. like my friend maryann used "neethu" which you forgot by the way hun! ;-D but it's so fucking hilarious the way malayalee parents name all their kids with names that sound almost exactly alike. what't the point? hi my name is jincy and these are my sisters jency, fency, and banana-fanna-fo-fency!!! WTF?!? our dance teacher goes nuts over the malu names cuz the siblings all go to the same place. she just calls them #1, #2, and #3. very clever.

how about a family of 3 girls named Itty Bitti and Titi ? no joke... no idea if their last name is Job, but i hope, for their sake, it's not.
more names: Fifi, Lincoln and Chincoln, Pretty, Queena, Tito, Twinkle, Joemon, Paulson
and isn't it great how there are so many people whose names are Thomas Thomas, George George etc?
also good times trying to explain why your dad/uncle's name is Baby... or your mom/aunt's name has a -kutty or -amma at the end...

OMG THAT IS SOOO HILARIOS!!! I was laughing for hours at that one. Is there a messgae board on this thing? This is like, my new favorite page or something!! LMAO!!

My friend’s nephew and niece are named Philin and Philby, respectively. Always struck me as a bit off …

if by message board you mean a warm, welcoming comments section that allows unlimited words (i think), then yeah... ;)

feel free to keep adding to the list...maybe i'll make a whole new post out of it, crediting those of you who diligently sent me more names. :D

p.s. i'm so going to kiss my mother's feet when i see her tomorrow, for giving us NORMAL NAMES that do not rhyme, alliterate or sound retarded.

My cousins names are Jisha and Jinjusha, both girls. Other examples, Chindu , Gypsy(male name, actually, Gypsy Gopalanathan). It's not over yet, I am thinking of names like 'Shreema' or 'Mashi'(from the first letters of my and wife's names) for my 'yet to born' child. Another typical Malayalee name is Sini or Cini. By the way, did I mention you that all the malayalee names belong to unisex category. So folks, don't open your grammar books here.

hello there anna..new to the blog..so a fellow malu...good to see...that most unique of people ...name s Sonu ..nice blog..must say agree about the name ..hehe i myself once had classmates called sini , sinu and me..sonu....god it was fun for the teachers!:-)

those are some f'd up names, yo.

oh, my bad...there was already a "thenga" on this board. i'm not them.

I've heard of Stily (as in style-y) and her sister Stilency.. and also Shitty (or maybe it was Shittimol.) No kidding..

And from Tamil Nadu I have the sibling names Kennedy and Lennedy to contribute.

whats a blog?
