i had heard about the "quirkyalone" concept a while ago, and while i grasped the gist of it...(um, wouldn't anyone, just from nomenclature??) i never thought of it as applicable to me. boy was i surprised...here's what i discovered;
Welcome to quirkyalone.net, the online home of the quirkyalone movement. Quirkyalone is a newly coined term to describe people who enjoy being single but are not opposed to being in a relationship—people who prefer to be single rather than settle.
Don't be fooled, however: One can also be quirkyalone and in a relationship (quirkytogether). At core, quirkyalone is a worldview: a mindset that develops out of lived experience and becomes a set of ideas that you adapt and carry with you throughout the rest of your life, whether you are single, married, or divorced.
The quirkyalone concept grew out of an essay published in 2000 in To-Do List magazine and Utne Reader. from http://quirkyalone.net
there's a quiz on the website that helps you determine whether you are, in fact, "quirkyalone". i gave it to my favourite ex- first, b/c i was bored, and i like to experiment on people ;)
but after i got his results, i was intrigued. what *about* me?
How quirkyalone is Anna?
"Your score was 103. Very quirkyalone:
Relatives may give you quizzical looks, and so may friends, but you know in your heart of hearts that you are following your inner voice. Though you may not be romancing a single person, you are romancing the world. Celebrate your freedom on National Quirkyalone Day, February 14th!"
